I like the horizontal planks better than the vertical planks.
The horizontals are actually growing on me quite a bit, but how can we work them into a house with the classical details that I prefer more. Maybe a design with the appearance of an addition, and in this area we could use some of these details.
It's true- the classical and this beachy/counrty style do not mix. What if this was the look in a garage/work area for your tools? Maybe in an ADU or something. Or a mudroom going into the laundry room.

I love how the planks on the ceilings run perpendicular to the horizontal planks on the wall above the hall.

I forgot to mention that I love the perpendicular planks on the hallway ceiling.
