The paint we chose- Behr's "Full Moon"

The runner's up:

"Twilight" and "Sterling"

And yes, I am somewhat mortified that two of the three paint names had to do with those vampire books.

I'm getting fairly obsessed with light grey walls with white molding/ceilings/accents.  My idea:

Dave has reminded me that I didn't like grey so much when we actually lived in a relatively grey state.  He might have a point.  And if not grey like this picture on the right, then maybe an icy blue like on the left...

Nautical

Now that we are again moving to a sea town we are excited to brush off the idea of a more industrial nautical theme. Here's how I see it:

A very light gray on the walls, with white ceilings, doors, and accents.

Brass bed frame, lovingly weathered. At the foot is a wooden trunk, filled with blankets...

...and with the HelleDickson nautical flags to hang above the bed.

Something like this:

I am in love with this dresser- the brass pulls and kick at the bottom especially.  I think Dave can make this.

I think if we keep the rest of the room simple and homey it's going to balance out the room and make sure it doesn't look like we live in Disneyland.

Amazing kitchen remodel.  I love the colors and the globes and the hand-me-down charm of it.

This could very well be a fad of this year, but I love these colors together- white, black, and yellow.  And this room is perfect because I often like black, white and _____ (whatever color I happen to love that season) together.  All you have to do is change the comforter cover when you want something new.  This is the kind of room I want to wake up in come morning time.

I'm kind of obsessed with various shades of grey.  Let's be honest- it's pretty obvious.  But I love the image on the left- white upper wall with a dark charcoal on the bottom.  It's like the anti-wainscotting.  It's vivid without being too trendy or crazy.

I really like this striped floor. It's simple and graphic, a little bit more of a modern take on the checkered floor pattern. I love the little pop of red on the low cupboard in the back. They balance out well.

So great! Unless you have kids... and then it's a horrible idea.

Note from years later- I cannot imagine how much it would suck to dust this bathroom all the time.

Love the red color with the black accents. You don't have to paint the walls to have a great room.

I'm loving this built-in. I think our bookcase would look great painted black on the inside with white details and a bold punch of color on the sides. If we did red we could put it in L's room for his toys and books like this family has done.

I love:
1. This shade of blue, paired with all the whites on the dresser.
2. The chair. Not only is the shape itself nice, but I like the bold wide stripes that make it a little more modern.
Here's my question: do the woods have to match? Does it bother me that one is dark and the other is light? And does it bother me that light wood even exists? Because I have to admit that it looks good here... Better than a walnut would be. And why do I always want to paint everything white, grey, or walnut stained?

Ooh!
First off- the yellow and white striped ceiling. It mimics the lines from a slatted ceiling and adds some energy into the room. The white stripes are matte while the yellow are some satin finish. Very interesting.
Second, the black matte wall. I assume black matte would show less dirt than white matte, right? I am loving how graphic and dramatic this little nursery is.

So Dave hates this- he thinks it's impractical and weird and off putting. I love it. I'm not sure why. Maybe I just love the picture itself and the color they chose to paint it. I do love the little windows and thin little door. I think if I saw it in an actual house I wouldn't like it. Maybe.

I love the colors of this kitchen- mostly white, dark ebony floors, vivid yellows and little green. So pretty. I wonder if I will like it next year...

So the wall and window trim are painted white, but the pane parts (what is the word for those?) are black. Rather lovely.

I am liking the gallery walls full of framed pictures. This one has quite a bit more punch to it than the others have shown.

I'm really into collections lately. And so I am loving this collection of folding mirrors. I think the presentation could be stronger and more organized, but a cool idea.

My love for mismatching grows. I love the idea of having kitchen chairs which match in structure reupholstered in mismatching vintage fabrics in a color key.

Minus the pale tan of the walls, I love the colors in this room. Overall white, but each accent color is so bold and used so sparingly. The blues, reds, greens, and oranges are the same vividness and work so beautifully together.

Oh how I love these colors: the bright yellow, medium and light blue, with touches of orange... Though those Lucite Queen Anne chairs make me want to puke a bit.
