Pointing out the pleats at the bottom of these curtains.  Take away the polkadot rug, the ribbon sheer curtain, and the turqouise and this could be very nice.  Like a light grey or red or something...  Could look very nice.

This would be stronger with less pictures, maybe 4x2 instead.  Cute idea for a kid's room.

Great entry way- it's crowded, but cozy, and the color balance is wonderful.  I like the clapboard with the rim/shelf above for putting decoration.  My glass jars would look great like this.

I'm wishing I could remember whose home this is...  A designer couple...
I love the wool plaid blanket and the crisp linens and the trunks used for dressers (but must be for looks only because unstacking them every time you needed something isn't going to happen).  It's a simple, masculine, but warm room.

These floors are gorgeous.  I love the knots and wear and warp.

On the other hand, we are currently learning why wood floors make a house so noisy...  There would need to be a good deal of rugs, curtains, and furniture to muffle the sounds.

The pretty laundry room.  While this would be pretty expensive, a little detail is a good compromise for Dave and I.  His love of the stackable washer/dryer and my need for folding space.  More than that little thing might be needed.

Vintage soap dishes turned key holders.

I'm fairly certain this is a once in a lifetime flea market find and that I'll never see anything like it, but I like this headboard.  It's kind of kitschy and girly, but it could be paired really nicely with some more low key linens and furnishings.  And I love the patina in the middle- this could easily be copied.

I love this table- it's rustic and warm and I want to hang out around it and play games and eat snacks.  Hating the chairs along with it.  All my love goes to the table and that hutch in the background.

I am still really liking the collages of different sized frames.  I like the simplicity and clean lines along with the differing finishes.  I really need to put some of my work up...

Dear Dave,
How about the compromise of painted table and stained chairs?  Thoughts?

I really like this striped floor. It's simple and graphic, a little bit more of a modern take on the checkered floor pattern. I love the little pop of red on the low cupboard in the back. They balance out well.

I like this idea of a smaller area covered with wall paper. Use a little trim to create a border... Nice.

I like the dark grey with the white wainscotting and the crown molding. It makes a nice balance.
Great light grey color on the walls. The room is sparse, but nice. Also, still deciding if I like the ying-yang-ed lamps on the sides. Great or odd?
A great room for a ton of reasons- the transform above the doorway on the right, the mix of whites and dark woods, but I really love the stairs. A great mix of wood and paint, perhaps the great compromise of pur marraige.

Not a fan of this one either. It just seems too modern and cold, not the cozy and homey nook I want.

How great is this door?! Not only is it dutch, which is awesome on its own accord, but I love the texture and the hinges.
All this time we've been talking about rooftop terraces, but never even realizing the option of a rooftop house!

So great! Unless you have kids... and then it's a horrible idea.

Note from years later- I cannot imagine how much it would suck to dust this bathroom all the time.

Totally simple quilt that is gorgeous.

Love the red color with the black accents. You don't have to paint the walls to have a great room.

Another Old House I Love

We just don't build them like this anymore.

Typically you see the black and white checkered floor, but the gray is quite nice, too. Less bold and distracting, but still attractive.
