Dave, I believe, adored this house...

Is there any way we could make this functional?
Dark, thin slatted wood in a herringbone pattern...

Also, the black shelving in a white room is pretty ballsy. I love it.
Holy crap, this window is awesome. Where the devil does one get something like this?
Here's a mix of the art resting in a shelf and hanging. Lovely. Here I could put beachy pictures along with my jars of sand and sea glass.

Oh, the Port Townsend Cupola House, how I love you...

The cupola is obviously awesome, but I also really like the returns resting on the pillars as well as the arch.

This is obviously too large, but the style is spot on.

I love the cupola, the dormers and the covered porch. I'm not sure about the painted white shingles, I might prefer white lap siding or ship lap siding to the shingles.
Love the weathered fireplace. This is coming in as second place for me, right behind the tin.

Not only is there this awesome wall of books, but a giant curtain to pull over it when all those books look too busy.
I love the idea of having this lush foresty tunnel to walk through or read under. I might not need it to be 50 feet long like this one. Maybe.
So simple.
Love the colors these trees bring into the room, as well as bringing a little surprising nature into the home. These could be one of the trees Dave is going to get me someday...
I like that this finds a way to display the smaller, more intimate pieces of art. Random shapes and sizes, but set in a very defined rectangle which keeps some order to the display.
Love the shoe rack. Would be pretty easy to make, right? Just need the space...
I love just about everything this room. But I absolutely love white vintage fireplace; the dark, thin floorboards; and the combination of modern wire chairs paired with the worn wooden table.

These baseboards are pretty sweet, too.
First off, we have the 3x2 window panes. Nice.
Second, we have the casing painted black in an all light colored room. Love it.
Love the paneling and paint job.
Love this wallpaper.
Love the book stacking, bot vertical and horizontal with little personal chotchkies thrown in.
The board and batten ceiling works for me much likte the wide horizontal planked walls, but less active visually. This is a great way to showcase a hipped ceiling.
I am also a fan of the bare wooden beams if they are scaled right. Not giant and oppressive with obscenely high ceilings, but small and quaint and simple.
Love that ceilings don't need to be ignored. The box pattern is so classic and crisp. They pose some problems that need to be thought out before installation, but can look amazing if processed well.

Also, I love the industrial lights in their own right, but also how they butch the room up a bit. These would be great in an Urban Nautical or Industrial Casual house. Yes, Industrial Casual is my new phrase. Or until I think of a better name for it.
While I am not a huge fan of this kitchen, it shows very well that you can take a modern and streamlined kitchen and soften it up with wallpapers and organic furniture.
